After a year of successful pilot programs utilizing the Beam® Smart Presence System (SPS) at several US museums and cultural sites, including the de Young Museum and Detroit Institute of Arts, Suitable Technologies is pleased to announce the launch of the Museum Partnership Program. Participating museums and cultural sites will receive a BeamPro™ SPS to grant visitor access to people who are physically unable to travel. Suitable Technologies Announces BeamPro User Survey Results
The Beam® Smart Presence System receives positive feedback from customers for ease of use and overall quality of experience

ORLANDO, Fla. (INFOCOMM 2015) – June 16, 2015 – Suitable Technologies (http://www.suitabletech.com), the company that brings people together with the BeamPro™ Smart Presence System, today announced survey results compiled from 650 active BeamPro users. More than 96 percent of respondents stated BeamPro was easy to use, 90 percent were satisfied with their experience, and 86 percent would recommend BeamPro to a friend. Additionally, Suitable Technologies has achieved over 150 percent year-on-year (YoY) new user acquisition, fueled by the rapid adoption of its BeamPro device among universities and Fortune 100 companies in the Internet, Manufacturing, Medical, and Pharmaceutical sectors.

“We purchased BeamPro over two years ago in order to better manage software development projects with overseas teams in Russia, India, and China. Communication was always the biggest challenge, so I wanted something that would help us continue work beyond the conference room scenario,” said Jay Beavers, Software Engineering Manager, Microsoft Research.

BeamPro’s competitive advantage lies in the system’s usability for people of any technical ability including students and people who work-from-home. IT providers choose BeamPro for their company’s needs because the Beam solution delivers what is commonly expected from video conferencing technology. The Beam collaboration solution:

– Enables face-to-face participation in every work environment.
– Utilizes pre-existing communications infrastructure (4G and WiFi);
– Leverages a fully supported, cloud-based video service;
– Includes a complement of user management administrative tools;
– Deploys security features and encryption expected of professional video collaboration;
– Delivers a high-quality, highly reliable connection for important visits or encounters, and
– Is comfortable and easy to use with a personal computer (OSX 10.7+ and Windows 7 and 8).

“The strength of the BeamPro lies in its ability to enable face-to-face meetings where and when video conferencing is either unavailable or ineffective,” said Ira Weinstein, Sr. Analyst, Consultant, and Partner at Wainhouse Research.

Suitable Technologies Opens First Beam Store

New Beam Store at 425 University Avenue in Palo Alto Gives Consumers a Place to Experience Smart Presence Systems First-Hand

PALO ALTO, CA–(Oct 31, 2014) – Suitable Technologies, Inc.® https://suitabletech.com, the company that brings people together with Smart Presence technology, today announced their new Beam® Store located in the heart of Silicon Valley at 425 University Avenue in Palo Alto. The store provides a fun way to experience the Beam Smart Presence System first-hand. The space opens the Smart Presence experience to anyone visiting Palo Alto by engaging the community, and connecting long-distance family and friends via Beam. The Beam Store will be operated completely by remote staff sitting as far away as New York City and Sydney.

Currently, those interested in telepresence devices such as Beam do not have a convenient location to visit and experience the technology. While friends of Suitable Technologies’ clients have access to the technology, sharing that experience might not be an option because Beam devices might be located in private offices. Beam helps people to do amazing things, see places they’ve never seen, and visit locations across the world in a fraction of the time. The Beam Store will beam in people from around the world to the Bay Area to facilitate connections and the sharing of ideas with ease.

“We’re excited to announce the opening of our first Beam Store as a place where you can come and experience Beam for yourself,” said Scott Hassan, CEO, Suitable Technologies. “The benefits are numerous — everything from reducing the carbon footprint to easing the work-life balance. We feel strongly about improving quality of life and increasing face-to-face interactions, and further exposing Beam is a way to do that. We’d love for everyone to come check it out — even if you’re not in the area, you can just beam in.”

The Beam Store creates awareness and challenges people to rethink communication. Suitable Technologies is excited to share Beam with the community, for example, by facilitating face-to-face visits between local students whose family lives abroad.

Beginning November 15, 2014, the Suitable Technologies Beam Store will also feature a monthly events calendar that is accessible to everyone via G+ and Facebook. Those who are interested in visiting the store in person can find it at 425 University Avenue in Palo Alto, California. People who live remotely can beam into the store by simply scheduling a BeamPro Test Drive.

Suitable Technologies will host trick-or-treaters on Friday, October 31 until 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time for special Halloween activities. The Beam Store will be open every day of the week between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Pacific Time.

Smart Presence System, BeamPro Now Offers Assisted Docking, Assisted Driving, and Color Customization Options

PALO ALTO, CALIF — June 18, 2014 – Suitable Technologies (http://www.suitabletech.com), the company that brings people together with Smart Presence technology, today announced the new Beam application with features such as assisted docking, along with several new additions for its Smart Presence System (SPS), BeamPro®. The new options now available for BeamPro include assisted driving capabilities and customized color choices. BeamPro goes beyond video conferencing technology; enabling users, or pilots, to enjoy meaningful interaction through the combination of low-latency audio and video with tele-operated maneuverability anywhere WiFi and 4G are available.

“As the leader in Smart Presence, we are happy to improve our Beam SPS in order to offer people broader and more immediate access to each other; enabling anyone, anywhere to be present, participate, and interact.” said Scott Hassan, CEO and founder, Suitable Technologies. “We are pleased to unveil the new Beam application with an easy-to-use UI and a number of features our customers have requested.”

The latest Beam application features a new UI (user interface) and includes a new assisted docking feature, enabling the BeamPro to dock itself once its charging station is within view of the BeamPro’s navigation camera. A pilot simply holds down the letter “P” on his or her keyboard and the BeamPro will dock itself onto its charging contacts. The Beam application delivers a realistic sensory experience to BeamPro pilots, and can be downloaded free on any Windows® 7 or Windows 8 (including Microsoft Surface® tablet) or Mac (OSX® 10.6 or higher) device. Benefits and features of the new BeamPro options include:

  • BeamPro assisted docking: docking is made easier for pilots through the use of augmented reality; object recognition of the dock and real-time path planning help steer BeamPro’s charging contacts onto its dock;
  • BeamPro assisted driving: a new option that adjusts the BeamPro’s driving speed according to its environment using LIDAR (LIght Detection and Ranging), thus helping a pilot navigate his or her BeamPro safely;
  • BeamPro colors: fully customizable color options including red, orange, black, and grey, so customers may personalize BeamPro to their taste or brand.

How BeamPro works
The BeamPro fulfills the need for shared awareness between people, places, and things. It embodies the remote individual, or pilot, with his or her authentic presence, and immerses the individual using reliable low-latency audio and video for natural communication, interaction, and control to the benefit of everyone involved. BeamPro mimics the physical presence of the pilot by placing the viewing monitor at eye-level, and low-latency video broadcasts in 480p in order to promote natural response times for gestures, driving, and other conversational cues. Application-specific audio makes use of six microphones, ideal for conversations up to 20 feet away, and cancels background noise; thereby making BeamPro and excellent A/V option for factories, events, or other noisy environments. With BeamPro, everyone is welcome to join the conversation, regardless of location.
